Can you consume too much caffeine?
Just by reading this, we are going to assume that you are one of the 62% of Americans who start their day with a cup (or three) of coffee. Listen up.
Coffee has 96 milligrams in each cup. Not only is it is comforting and flavorful, it’s energizing, and decreases the risk of in home homicides. OK, we don’t have stats to back up that last part. But how much caffeine is too much caffeine?
Up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day (about four or five eight-ounce cups of coffee or two energy drinks) is considered safe for most adults, but each person's sensitivity to the substance varies, and your body will warn you with signs when enough turns out to be too much, so it's important to take note.
Increased anxiety, trouble sleeping, stomach aches, frequent urination and headaches are all signs of excessive caffeine intake.
